My Wife, Part II I got the biggest break of my life when my current wife followed through on her promise to marry me. Back then, I just thought she was hot and I enjoyed spending time with her. Now she is my best friend, my soul mate, the better part of what makes me... me.
She has given me three awesome kids, a warm and welcoming home and a love most people can only dream about. There is nobody I would rather be with and I always look forward to getting home in the wee hours of the morning (from work) to curl up with her. We have spent one a total of three nights apart in almost 17 years, and neither of us slept well with the other one not there.
Don Williams wrote a song called "You're my Best Friend". It is our song. The lyrics describe exactly how I feel about her....
You placed gold on my finger You brought love like I've never known You gave life to our children And to me, a reason to go on.
Chorus: You're my bread when I'm hungry You're my shelter from troubled winds You're my anchor in life's ocean But most of all, you're my best friend
When I need hope and inspiration You're always strong when I'm tired and weak I could search this whole world over You'd still be everything that I need.
I don't know how you do it Michelle. All the mistakes and bad choices I have made, all of my obsessions. I don't deserve you, but I wouldn't want to live without you.
I love you.
Rick
